Masters Summit Milan recap

By Barry Harmsen

Last week the Masters Summit for Qlik was held in Milan, Italy. For those unfamiliar with the event, the Masters Summit is a 3 day advanced training for QlikView and Sense developers. If you have followed all the Qlik trainings (Designer, Developer, etc.), have 1 to 3 years of experience and ask yourself “Now what?” then this training is perfect for you.

I was at the Masters Summit and presented two sessions, Data Modeling and Server/Publisher Administration. In this post I will share with you some of the experiences and feedback from the event.

81 Qlik enthusiasts participated in this edition and as you can see in the photo below, we were at full capacity.

A packed house!

Summary

Overall, the training was very well received by everyone, with high marks for overall organization, presenters and materials. Also, a 100% recommendation score, w00t!

Masters Summit Milan scores

While this edition was held in Europe, some people came from much farther away, the US, Canada and even Hong Kong. The chart below shows a geographical representation of our attendees, darker meaning more attendees.

The 3 days of the Masters Summit are divided into 2 hands-on days with core skills for both QlikView and Qlik Sense (Scripting, Data Modeling, Expressions and Visualization) and 1 slightly more ‘lean-back’ day with sessions on Performance Tuning, Tips & Tricks, Server/Publisher admin and Qlik Sense for QlikView customers.

One of the nice things about the Masters Summit is that everyone gets something else out of it. Asked about their favorite sessions, here is what our attendees said:

Of course, there was also ample time for networking and exchanging success (and horror) stories with peers. On the first night we hosted a very nice happy hour at Deseo, which was indeed very happy, and also lasted sliiightly longer than an hour. Photo’s omitted on purpose 😉

Overall, I thought it were 3 excellent days. I really enjoyed meeting everyone, discussing interesting solutions and approaches, seeing some very cool applications and hearing about some really nice QlikView and Qlik Sense implementations! And of course, for all our past attendees the fun continues in our LinkedIn Group.

What our attendees said

Below you will find some of my favorite quotes from the event feedback:

Great experience! Even with 10 years experience in QlikView, there are still plenty of tips, ideas and clues that have immediate value. Thanks!

My expectations were huge, you surpassed them!

Inspiring high-pressure knowledge-input which provokes to “play more”.

Wifi could have been better!

On behalf of the Masters Summit team, many thanks to everyone who attended! If you are interested in attending a future event, then please check out our website.
